Degree Title: Bachelor of Dementia Care
Duration: 24 units, completed over a maximum of 7 years if part-time

In your first year, you will be introduced to online study while learning about the nervous system and dementia care.


You can graduate with a Diploma.

Second year will build on your first year knowledge, providing emphasis on care for people with dementia. You will also have the opportunity to study 4 elective units of your choice.


You can graduate with an Associate Degree.

Completed the MOOC?

The Negotiated Study in Understanding Dementia elective (CAD110) unit is only available to students who have completed the Understanding Dementia MOOC.

If you complete all three units of the MOOC, you may request a free certificate of completion.

Or you can choose to study further and receive proof of your learning that is recognised internationally by the academic community.

How to enrol into the elective unit Negotiated Study in Understanding Dementia

  1. Apply for admission to the Bachelor of Dementia Care once you have completed your MOOC.
  2. Enrol into the online unit Negotiated Study in Understanding Dementia (CAD110). Your MOOC learning will then be formally assessed.
  3. You are under no obligation to enrol into other Bachelor of Dementia Care units. You can choose to complete this unit only for university accreditation.
  4. If you have not studied at university before, you may also choose to enrol in Using Emerging Technology and Learning Online as Applied to Aged Care Studies (CAD001). This unit will enhance your technological skills in the context of online higher education.

In third year you will consolidate your learning with advanced dementia care topics and case-based learning.


You can graduate with a Bachelor Degree.
